ADDITIONAL INFO:
This work was started as a commercial enterprise, the only time that Jan Haag contemplated selling individual pieces of her needlepoint work. She soon realized, however, that these works could not be turned out quickly, nor did she wish to trivialize the sacred tradition from which textiles had sprung. The cat theme, however, did spark Haag's interest in creating a series of small paintings dubbed "Cattipoints" from her needlepoint studies. These Cattipoints, which became popular among Haag's friends, were influenced by both her needlepoints and the dotted style of Australian Aboriginal paintings.
